In this article we are attempting to list the most popular electronic circuits we have published over the last couple of years.  We know, its a little difficult task! First hurdle to cross is selecting the criteria to decide – “what makes a circuit popular ?“. Next hurdle is listing all of them in an ordered and categorized manner. Some circuits may seem so silly and simple for an experienced hobbyist/electronics geek, while some other circuits may seem so hard and complex for the amateur. We know its impossible to satisfy every one equally! However we have tried our best to make the list as interesting as possible.

The criteria we used to select a popular circuit is so simple. We selected the circuits with the highest number of page views from different categories. We depended on the data collected from the analytics application we have setup in this website. To make the list in order, we simply selected 2 0r 3 popular circuits and placed it under a relevant category. All the electronic circuits listed here are free to use and share. We have tested many of them and proved working in our lab. However there can be circuits with small and minor errors! If you come across any such errors while implementing the circuit, just make a comment. We will try our best to help you.

Amplifier Circuits

1. 150 Watt Amplifier Circuit

This is one of the most popular circuit in this website in terms of page views and number of comments! I think its the peculiarity of this amplifier circuit which makes it so popular among readers. This is one of the cheapest circuit available with which you can make a 150 watts RMS output amplifier. Moreover the circuit has great ruggedness and reliability. Such factors like low cost, ruggedness and reliable output makes things easy for even beginners.

2. 100 Watt Subwoofer Amplifier

This is the next popular circuit in the category of amplifiers. You can easily assemble this circuit as it is made of transistors only. With this circuit you can build a 100 Watts output. The most interesting thing is that the components are so simple and cheap. You can buy all of them from your local shop and assemble it on a board.

Lighting Circuits

3. Automatic LED Emergency Light

This is the most popular electronic circuit in the category of Lighting circuits. It has been developed by a valuable contributor of this website, Mr.Seetharaman. The circuit is simple and is made using an LM317 IC, LED’s, 2 transistors and some common components. A great deal of discussion has been there about this circuit in the comments section. When you try to assemble this circuit, first go through the comments section. It will help you to save much time troubleshooting.

4. Street Light Circuit

Well, this is a pretty old circuit we have developed in the year 2008 😉 The reason for its popularity is the circuit’s simplicity! This may be one of the most simple circuits in this website, that even a novice can attempt. You can make this circuit work with a couple of transistors, resistors, an LDR and a relay! Sounds too easy? Another reason for its popularity is that this circuit works perfectly well. Most of the readers who tried this circuit were satisfied with the outcome. Just try this one if you are beginner!

Indicator/Alarm Circuits

5. Simple Water Level Indicator

This is another circuit we have published way back in 2008! Well, its quiet simple to make as this circuit has only 5 transistors and 5 LED’s and 5 resistors. But the circuit is a little controversial I guess! There are many doubts and questions in the comments section. When you attempt this circuit, read through the comments carefully. Also keep in mind that there are many guys who got the output perfectly. This circuit is really good for beginners.

6. Water Level Alarm Circuit

So here is another vintage property! A circuit made back in 2008! The difference with the above circuit is in the use of an alarm. The circuit is simple and easy to implement. You must read through the comments section before you implement this circuit. As usual there are people who got this working perfectly fine and there are people who got errors! So to avoid much of the possible problem, you may read comments. It can save you lot of troubleshooting time.

7. Mobile Incoming Call Indicator

Another electronic circuit from 2008! This circuit does none other than blinking LED’s when your mobile rings (even when your phone’s ringer is deactivated). Just a fun project to implement, that’s all! Anyway read through comments before you make the circuit.

Charging Circuits

8. Battery Charging Circuit using SCR

Quiet an easy to make battery charger circuit using SCR, a BC148 transistor and some other basic components. This charger is meant for charging 12 volt Lead-Acid car batteries of 30 to 40AH capacity. The circuit is good enough and many guys got perfect output. Just try on your own!

9. Battery Charger using LM317

So this is another Lead acid battery charger which is designed using IC LM317. Apart from the IC, there is a transistor, a couple of capacitors and resistors. An easy to make charging circuit with so many problems rectified in comments section. Well read through comments carefully!

Inverter Circuits

There are two 100 watt inverter circuits which are so popular in this website. I will list both of them. The first one is a circuit which we published in 2008 – the 100 Watt Inverter circuit. This circuit is made using the CD4047 Ic and transistors TIP122 and 2N3055. As usual an easy to make circuit! The second one is a Simple 100 Watts Inverter circuit made using CD4047 and MOSFET’s (IRF540). This one is pretty new (published in 2010) and is a perfectly working circuit. However I recommend you following the comments before you implement any of these circuits.

Controller Circuits

12. Water Level Controller using 8051

Well, this one is a pretty new and well tested circuit we have made recently. We have tested this in our lab and it works pretty fine. You can get the diagram and software necessary to make this project. It is designed using 8051 microcontroller and has many great features added to it using the software. Just try this out and see how it works!

This list is not complete yet! We will add more and more circuits to this list in near future. Just keep the page bookmarked!
